AirAsia Philippines opens new route flying to Osaka, Japan
Osaka is one of the greatest cities I highly recommend you visit if you wanna experience the best of Japan. If you’re worried it would cost you too much, I assure you there are ways to travel on a budget even in this expensive city. You can start by booking cheap flights. Now, you have to keep in mind that booking cheap flights doesn’t necessarily equate to having crappy flights, in fact, you can have better, if not the best flight experience if you book with the right airline. Having all that said, I’m glad to share with you that AirAsia, the world’s leading low-cost carrier, has just launched a new flight route between Manila, Philippines and Osaka, Japan which will operate daily starting from the beginning of July 2019.
Osaka will be AirAsia’s first-ever route between the Philippines and Japan. It is the 14th international destination route expected to enhance bilateral connectivity between the two tourism powerhouses.

To promote the launch of the Manila-Osaka route, individuals who book tickets at AirAsia website and the AirAsia mobile app from March 29 to April 7, can avail Php1,990 one-way flight fare. The departure dates must be between July 1 to October 26, 2019.
AirAsia Philippines CEO Capt. Dexter Comendador said that they’re excited to celebrate this milestone and add Japan to their growing network. This will surely pave the way for AirAsia Philippines to connect to more international cities to further promote Philippine tourism.
“Japan is one of the top inbound tourism markets in the Philippines, with 57, 724 arrivals recorded in the first quarter of this year. With this new route enhancing bilateral connectivity, we hope to continue promoting the Philippines as a must-visit destination for Japanese tourists and bring Japan closer to Filipinos.”

To celebrate the new route launch, a whole day of activities and prizes was opened to the public yesterday, June 29, 2019, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Fun Japanese gameshow-inspired activities (such as race while wearing stockings on the face, climb to the top of inflatable slides, sumo roll game, what’s in the box) were battled by keen participants for free Osaka flights.
Lucky winners were given free flights to Osaka: Grand winner – 4 roundtrip tickets; 1st Prize – 2 round trip tickets; 2nd Prize – 1 roundtrip ticket.

The place was busy and fun-filled!
There were booths where guests had their photos taken and printed on paper for free. Of course, I didn’t miss the chance to try it myself, so you can see my happy photo with famous Osaka landmarks in the backdrop!

Attendees of the launch celebration enjoyed discounted flights, tours, visa-assistance by AirAsia partner agencies. [RELATED READ: HOW TO APPLY FOR JAPAN TOURIST VISA FOR PHILIPPINE PASSPORT HOLDERS]
Surprise performances by a Filipina singer and Japanese comedian trio also made the celebration more entertaining. I still need to research the names of the performers but they are indeed talented and fun to watch!
In between the entire program, guests could freely approach the food stalls to savour authentic Japanese food like gyoza (from Tori Ichi Yakitori & Bar), red Iced tea (from Tokyo Tokyo), California maki (from Tenya Tempura Tendon), and my personal favourite, takoyaki!

Booking with AirAsia
My first travel abroad was with AirAsia. I could book around Php2,000 one-way international flight. I’m happy that with this price, I could already enjoy a comfortable and safe flight. Truth be told, I had an experience before paying almost Php9,000 pesos for a domestic roundtrip flight (with a different airline) and had the worst, most stressful time before and after boarding. With AirAsia, I never had this kind of stress. I also like the inflight meals a lot.
If you book your tickets to Osaka with AirAsia, it’s also worth checking their list of popular activities. The cost of the activities are reasonable, plus you get some points which when accumulated, could be redeemed as flights.
