Thailand Trip Itinerary: 4 days in Bangkok

Bangkok is a popular tourist destination not only among Asians but most especially to people from Europe. If you are planning to visit this fabulous city, here is a 4-day itinerary I recommend. this itinerary is family-friendly. You can also visit these places with kids!

Day 1:

9:45AM: Depart NAIA for Bangkok

12:00PM: Arrival in Bangkok

1:00PM: Late Lunch

2:00PM: Hotel Check-in

4:30PM – onwards: Proceed to Esplanade Shopping Mall

Visit Art in Museum

6PM – Ratchada Train Night Market

Day 2:

7AM- 8AM: Breakfast

8:30AM- 9:30AM: Proceed to Erawan Museum

9:30AM- 11:00AM: Explore Erawan Museum

11:00AM- 11:30AM: Lunch

11:30AM- 12:00PM: Proceed to Ancient City

12:00PM- 3:00PM: Explore Ancient City

3:00PM- 4:00PM: Proceed to Chocolate Ville

4:00PM- onwards: Chocolate Ville

9PM – Back to Hotel

Day 3:

8AM- 9AM: Breakfast

9:30AM- 10:00AM: Proceed to Siam Area

10:00AM- 11:00AM: Sea Life Bangkok (Siam Paragon Mall)

11:00AM- 12:30PM: Madam Tussaud’s (Siam Discovery)

12:30PM – 2:00PM: Lunch

2:00PM – 3:00PM: Line Village (Siam Square One Building)

4:00PM – Jim Thompson’s House Museum

7PM – Dinner at Soomboon

Day 4:

8AM- 9AM: Breakfast

9:30AM- 10:00AM: Proceed to Siam Area

10:00AM- 11:00AM: Proceed to Siam Area

1:45PM: Flight back to Manila

6:45PM: Arrival in NAIA

Partas Bus Terminal in Cubao: Poor Passenger Service

On our second Lakwatsa this summer (Surfing in La Union) we gave up the idea to rent a van. We thought it would be impractical and costly given there are lots of accessible PUBs in EDSA. So we travelled more than 224 kilometers by bus… it took us approximately 6 hours to get to La Union, and 3.5 hours from the terminal bench to the bus seat (which was about 5 meters away). WHAT THE HECK!!!

Partas Bus station is located along Aurora Blvd. The bus company is owned by Ilocos ex-Governor Chavit Singson thus given such name—the reverse of “SATRAP”, an ancient Persian word for governor. You can read more about PARTAS here. (FOR UPDATED BUS FARES CLICK HERE)

Unlike Victory Liner, Partas (in Cubao) didn’t allow ticket reservation. We had to go to the terminal and buy tickets upon departure. That didn’t seem to be a problem because they said the station operates 24/7 and serves hourly trip; all we had to do was to get there early on.

We arrived in the terminal at around 2 am. Passengers were seated on long metal benches with their bulky luggage that made the trip seemed to me like a very long way up North. With that on mind, I already felt nauseous. I am really not a fan of car fresheners; I often get dizzy, worse I throw up. Anyway, we waited for the ticketing booth to officially open. There were people inside—some drinking coffee, chitchatting, checking whatever—but no one was situated in the counter. While waiting, we managed to play Monopoly a couple of rounds. It helped us to kill time.

At 3 o’clock, we can tell everybody’s bored. We were too, and a bit sleepy. We were wondering when we could buy tickets, only if there’s someone in the counter we could ask… The lady guard near the counter seemed to be annoyed of us asking probably because she couldn’t provide us a helpful answer. It sucked. Why weren’t they accommodating passengers when they have hourly trip schedule? I thought maybe the number of passengers weren’t enough but then that time I guess passengers could fill 2 buses already so what could be the problem? No one among us knew. So I just shrugged my shoulder and got myself a manicure. Yes! I was so bored I decided to grace my fingernails with cherry red nail polish! HAHA My friends, on the other hand, abused free wi-fi and surfed net on their smart phones.

After rounds of monopoly, camwhoring, and manicure, clock struck 4. The passengers continued to come in. Counter wasn’t empty anymore but still we couldn’t buy tickets. WTH!!! We started to get irritated and the awful feeling made us pee. Did I say that the bathroom incredibly sucked? It did! The smell would let you hold your pee forever…!

After 30 minutes I approached the counter and asked the busy teller how long should we wait to buy the friggin’ tickets. He gave me a very short cold answer, without enthusiasm and without even looking at me, 5:30. In my mind I already broke the glass window… but all I could actually do was reply a cheerful THANKS!

Considering the other passengers, I thought we were still luckier than those who waited from 9 pm. Would you believe? Stuck in the terminal from 9 pm to 5:30 am! At Victory Liner terminal we were able to reserve tickets and didn’t have to wait more than an hour, not to mention the bus left 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled departure. I don’t know if this is the usual case in PARTAS. Very frustrating!

Lo and behold, at 5:30 the passengers queued to buy tickets. We got our regular tickets—Php 486 for a trip to San Fernando La Union. Shortly after, the bus left, just as the sun rose over the buildings of Cubao…

DELUXE or “DILATS”?

Trips are always fun especially with friends… until someone releases a bomb and suffocates those who are not physically strong to withstand the bad odour. I and my friends (Edray died haha) had dilats (eyes wide-opened) experience instead of deluxe that cost Php516.

It’s already special with that ‘special someone,’ but the thing that would definitely make it a quality time is the place. It doesn’t have to be fancy every week, yet there’s the pressure it has to be somewhere new. If you think you’ve already brought your beau to every place near your house, continue reading for more suggestions.

Visiting a new place once in a while would feel like a treat to you and your partner. New food, scenery, experience, and memory. Good thing, it seems like a new restaurant is launched every day in this country. Filipinos just love food! Even if it’s a date with your friends and not a romantic partner, here’s a list of date spots in Metro Manila:

Tiendesitas

From reputable restaurants, nail salons, pet shops, to lots of shopping options, Tiendesitas in Ortigas is the place to go for a whole day date. The many choices of things to do could help you get to know each other on a deeper level. You can be spontaneous as much as you like, no need to plan in advance to make your date feel like work!

Metrowalk

If you’re a couple who schedules dates on Fridays, which often fall on payday, you’re one of the hundreds who get stuck in traffic. This is where Metrowalk comes in. Stopover at Metrowalk in Ortigas CBD, enjoy good food and drinks and have a quality time while letting the traffic pass. Even more romantic with live band performances.

Gastro Park Kapitolyo

This food stop in Kapitolyo has over 15 restaurants. Do you like cotton candy, tacos, or liquid nitrogen ice cream? Everything is here for that cute “Date Night” Instagram post. You surely wouldn’t get enough of the variety. Find it at 12 1st St, Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City every day from 12 noon to 12midnight.

Now, let’s go to Quezon City. Search online for reviews on this restaurant and you’d only see positive comments. That’s how good it is. They say it has one of the best roasted chicken in the Metro. Treat your special someone with good food and you’d both surely cap off the stressful work week with a smile.

This restaurant in Bonifacio Global City serves food described as “absurdly delicious” by Chef Bruce Ricketts. Enough to make you want to check it out, right? They offer mostly Japanese food and a bit of other cuisine featured on the Tasting menu. Space is small just like in any other Japanese restaurants, so make a reservation in advance and come on time!

Not really hungry and just want to bond over dessert? You can come to Café Seolhwa in BGC or Paranaque. They serve great bingsu made from healthy ingredients. The flyer says, “this is the place where you bring your loved ones if you want them to be happy.” See for yourself!

Drinking is always a good idea! Especially if you know you’re going home with someone you actually know… and love. Enjoy the music and drinks as you dance the night away and realize you’re never too old to have a great, loud night. Parting Words

Again, your date place doesn’t have to be fancier every week. Just make it a point to try something new once in a while to make your special someone feel extra special. If the food isn’t as good as where you were the previous week, then charge it to experience. The memory of you and your beau hating on the food could be a funny thing to remember after some time! Maximize every quality time by taking advantage of the many date spots in Metro Manila.
