Today was a special day for us. We attended a gender reveal party, which was the first one we’ve been to since the pandemic began. The world changed a lot during those years, and so did our lives. We moved several times, and that is one reason we haven’t attended many gatherings. However, today was a beautiful exception, and we were thrilled to be part of it!
The gender reveal party was held at the MIVESA Garden Residences in Lahug, Cebu City. This residence is quite nice. It has mid-rise buildings and lots of parking space, making it easy for everyone to come. One of the best features of this place is that it is pet-friendly, IMO! LOL When we arrived at around 6:30 PM, we noticed many residents walking their dogs by the pool area, catching up with other residents. It felt warm and welcoming.
Our Friend Marc: The Baby Daddy
The reason we were at the gender reveal party is that our friend Marc is the baby daddy! Marc is one of our practice members at Form and Function Corrective Chiropractic. Over time, he has become a good friend. We first connected because of his love for sports. He works with the Philippine Sports Commission, helping people all over the country.
Marc is originally from Canada, and he comes to the Philippines now and then, especially because his fiancée, Jane, is expecting a baby. It’s exciting to see him happy and starting a family!
Fun and Games at the Party
The gender reveal party was filled with games and laughter. I joined in on many games because I love being social. Winning is always a nice bonus! I was lucky enough to win two games during the evening, which was so much fun for me. I enjoy being part of social games because my personality is extroverted.
On the other hand, my husband is a bit different. He is not as outgoing as I am, but he is great at public speaking. It’s interesting how we complement each other. Together, we brought a lively energy to the event. We also made sure to bring gifts for the expecting couple, as is customary in these kinds of celebrations.
The Importance of Gifts
Growing up in the province, I wasn’t really aware that you need to bring gifts to parties…… But as I grow older, I learned that it is considered good manners to bring gifts to occasions you are invited to just like this one. There is sometimes a misconception that gifts must be expensive. However, gifts don’t need to be costly—they just need to be thoughtful and useful for the recipients.

Gift Cards: Giving a gift card to a baby store is a wonderful option. It allows the parents to choose what they need most.

My Prediction About the Baby’s Gender
As I watched Jane, I started to have a feeling about the baby’s gender. I had a strange instinct that they were having a boy. I can’t explain it, but it seemed to me that Jane’s tummy looked like mine did when I was pregnant. There’s something about how your body changes during pregnancy that can lead to these thoughts.
I compared her tummy to my sister’s when she was pregnant with my niece. There was a noticeable difference, and it made me wonder. How do the doctors actually determine the gender? I realized I was basing my thoughts on my observations and experiences rather than scientific evidence. In the end, I was just excited to find out, no matter what the answer would be!

The party had lots of fun and games, but one of the most heartwarming moments was yet to come. As everyone gathered around in anticipation of the big reveal, Marc took a deep breath and surprised us all with a proposal to Jane. The atmosphere shifted instantly. Jane’s reaction was priceless. Her eyes filled with tears of joy, and before we knew it, I felt tears welling up in my own eyes. It was such a beautiful sight to see love in action, especially in a moment so pure and significant.
