Before December ends, I want to share my experience over the past year as a member of the Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS). Being part of CBS has made my blogging journey more amazing. I have met many people who love blogging and creating content just like me.

When I first moved to Cebu, I attended events alone and worked on my blog by myself. It was nice, but being part of CBS has changed many things. Being around other bloggers encourages me.

I feel motivated when I see their hard work and creativity.

What is Cebu Bloggers Society?

Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008. It helps local bloggers connect, share ideas, and learn from each other. CBS organizes events, workshops, and meetups to help members improve their blogging skills and stay updated on what’s new in the industry. The society also promotes Cebu and supports local businesses through different projects.

How to Join CBS

If you want to join CBS, there are three types of membership: Blogger, Vlogger/YouTuber, and Digital Media Movers. Each type has specific requirements.

Blogger Requirements:

  • You must live in Cebu and be at least 18 years old.
  • You need to love blogging or creating content.
  • Your blog should be at least six months old and have at least ten posts.
  • You shouldn’t be a member of other blogging groups in Cebu.
  • You must update your blog at least twice each month.
  • You should have at least 5,000 followers on social media (like Facebook or Instagram).

Vlogger/YouTuber Requirements:

  • You must live in Cebu and be at least 18 years old.
  • You need to love creating videos.
  • Your YouTube channel must be at least six months old and have ten videos.
  • You must upload at least two new videos each month.
  • You should have at least 5,000 followers on social media.

Digital Media Movers Requirements:

  • You must live in Cebu and be at least 18 years old.
  • You need to love creating digital content.
  • You should have at least 10,000 followers on two social media platforms and at least 5,000 followers on Instagram.

Benefits of Being a CBS Member

Being a member of CBS has many advantages:

  • There is no membership fee, so you can focus on your passion for creating content.
  • There are seminars to help you improve your skills in digital marketing and business.
  • Members support each other and help increase each other’s visibility.
  • CBS gets many invitations from brands for events, which are shared with members.
  • You can help local businesses and be involved in community service.

Responsibilities of Membership

While CBS has many benefits, there are also some responsibilities. Members are asked to attend at least seven events each year. There are usually many events—sometimes over twenty in busy months—so attending seven is easy if you make time. Members also need to submit their work on time for collaborations, which can lead to paid opportunities.

I typically reach out to brands I want to collaborate with, but being a member of CBS has also introduced me to new brands. This has allowed me to meet new people who have positively impacted our family business, Form and Function Corrective Chiropractic. I’m thrilled that fellow bloggers have connected me and Dr. Scott with potential patients. In return, we take care of CBS members by offering them spinal adjustments at our clinic.

Thanks to CBS, I’ve made many new friends in Cebu, which has made me feel more at home as we deepen our roots here. This year, I’ve attended numerous events, and I’m grateful for the new lessons each one has taught me in my personal growth journey. I’m passionate about personal development, and I hope to positively influence others’ lives through what I do.

Looking Forward

As I think about my time with CBS, I feel thankful and excited for what’s next. In 2025, I hope to be more active in helping other bloggers and contributing to the Cebu community. I look forward to new experiences and growth with my fellow members.
