If you’re staying around Mactan Newtown and your hands are itching to hit some pads… I found the spot. Yesterday I trained at Knock’ls Boxing Gym in Lapu-Lapu City, and not gonna lie, I walked out sweaty, tired, and actually learning something new, which is exactly what I want from a class.
Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Getting There (Walkable from Mactan Newtown!)
One of the best things about Knock’ls is that it’s literally walkable from Mactan Newtown. No Grab, no traffic stress, just walk over with your water bottle and you’re there.
The gym is at Unit 115, on the ground floor. One small inconvenience: you have to leave your ID at the gate before they let you in. I was a little nervous about it (because who wants to lose their ID, right?), but the guards were careful and I got it back with no problem. Relief. Just remember to bring one so you’re not stuck at the entrance.
The Coaching: This Is Why I’d Go Back
My coach was Coach Reyjohn, a certified Muay Thai coach and an actual Muay Thai fighter. And you can feel it in the way he teaches. He was very technical… he didn’t just let me throw strikes for the sake of throwing strikes. He corrected the small details, explained the why behind the movement, and I walked out with new skills I didn’t have when I walked in.
That’s rare for a drop-in class, and it’s the kind of coaching that makes you better, not just tired.
Another big plus: you get one-on-one time with the coaches. Even when other people are training, there are at least three coaches on the floor, so you’re not just standing in line waiting for your turn.
What’s Covered in a Muay Thai Class
The class is complete. Here’s what we went through: warm-up and conditioning (lots of sweating), drills to work on technique, pad work with the coach, and sparring. So you’re not paying for just one piece of the session. It’s the whole package.
Knock’ls Boxing Gym Rates
I paid ₱800 for a one-hour Muay Thai session, and here’s the full pricelist posted at the entrance:
Group / One-on-One Personal Training
| Option | Rate |
|---|---|
| 1-hr single session (boxing) | ₱500 |
| 1-hr single session (Muay Thai & kickboxing) | ₱800 |
| 8-session package (use within a month) | ₱3,000 |
| 12-session package (no expiry) | ₱4,000 |
Everyday Group / One-on-One Personal Training
| Option | Rate |
|---|---|
| 1 week | ₱2,300 |
| 2 weeks | ₱3,500 |
| 3 weeks | ₱4,000 |
| Monthly unlimited | ₱4,500 |

A few things worth knowing:
The packages are where the real savings are. The 8-session package works out to about ₱375 per session, and the 12-session one is around ₱333 per session with no expiry, which is perfect if your schedule is all over the place (hello, fellow moms and business owners). If you’re training almost daily, the ₱4,500 monthly unlimited is the best deal on the board.
The sign also says the price is lower if you bring your own gloves and handwraps, so if you have your own gear, ask about it. And they give a discount if you come with friends or family, so drag your gym buddy along.
Free Gear (Great If You’re Traveling)
I didn’t bring any gear, and it was totally fine. They have a whole wall of shelves stacked with boxing gloves in all sizes and colors, plus piles of handwraps you can use. So if you’re visiting Mactan, just trying Muay Thai for the first time, or forgot your bag at home… you can just show up and train.

Strength Training Included
With the rate, you can also use the gym connected to it for strength training. So you can finish your Muay Thai class and squeeze in a lifting session on the same visit. Two workouts, one rate.
What’s Inside the Gym
The training area is clean, bright, and well-stocked. Here’s what I saw:
- Heavy bags lined up along the wall, plenty for everyone
- Thai pads, kick shields, and focus mitts for pad work
- Shin guards for sparring
- Dumbbells and kettlebells in different weights
- Agility hurdles and cones for footwork and conditioning drills
- Stability balls, medicine balls, and suspension trainer straps
- A tire for conditioning work
- Wall-mounted boxing reaction machine and a round timer
- Big mirrors so you can check your form
- Interlocking floor mats throughout, easy on the feet and knees
- A big ceiling fan plus stand fans (you’ll be thankful, trust me)
- Water dispenser and a mini fridge at the front
The walls are lined with flags from all over the world and old-school boxing posters, which gives it a fun, welcoming vibe.

Bonus for the gains girlies: they sell protein shakes for ₱50 per serving and creatine for ₱30 per sachet, so you can refuel right after class.
Class Schedule
The schedule wasn’t posted where I could snap it, so message Knock’ls ahead of time to confirm class times, especially if you want to train with a specific coach.

Would I Recommend Knock’ls Boxing Gym?
Yes, 100%. If you’re looking for a Muay Thai or boxing gym near Mactan Newtown, Knock’ls is worth checking out. The coaching is technical, you get real one-on-one time, the gear is free, and you can squeeze in a strength session after. The ID-at-the-gate thing is a small hassle, but it’s nothing compared to the quality of training you get inside.
I’ll definitely be back. See you on the pads!
