other products I use for DIY rebonding and hair color |
It’s almost summer! It’s weird when I say it because it is ALWAYS summer in my country.
Anyway, how’s your rebonded/treated hair getting along with the heat these days? Has it turned dull? Has it lost its shine? Have you felt like shampoo and conditioning aren’t enough?
OK. I. sound. like. a. promo. girl. . .
On a serious note, if you have treated hair (e.g. rebonded, permed, colored), shampoo and conditioners are not enough. You have to maintain your treated hair with salon treatment at least every two weeks.
The most hair-friendly treatment would be hot oil treatment. If you have dry, dull, damaged hair, like me, the best treatment for your hair would be Hair Cellophane.
What is Hair Cellophane?
Hair cellophane is the process of applying a “glossing agent” to your damp hair, allowing it to set for 20 to 30 minutes to wrap around your hair follicle and to get absorbed into the shaft.
Basically, what the glossing agent does to your hair is sealing the cuticle layer of your hair, locking in moisture, and thus increasing your hair shine.
That is why regular cellophane treatment is good (and essential for rebonded or color-treated hair) as it revives the color, shine and softness of your hair.
How much is it to have a Hair Cellophane?
The price ranges from Php 400 – Php 2000 depending on the length of your hair and the salon you’re getting the treatment from.
But don’t get dismayed! If you are the practical (and diligent) type, you can have less expensive hair treatment at the comfort of your home.
DIY Hair Cellophane
Really? Yes.
A nice hair care product that is used in many reputable salons, the Shine Moist, has the “glossing agent” product one can use for a home cellophane treatment.

Where to buy Shine Moist Henna Wax?
- SM Department Store or Watson’s for Php 214.95
- HORTLEZA outlet for only Php 180.00 (I USUALLY BUY IT FROM HERE BECAUSE HERE IT’S CHEAPEST)
- HBC
I bought my heating cap (steamer) from Hortaleza in 2008 and I could still use it to this day. It’s durable. But since it 2016 now, I don’t remember the price or maybe they have changed the product as well as its cost. But if you don’t have the heating cap or steamer at home, just cover your damp hair with plastic shower cap to lock in the moisture. In some salons, they use the cling to wrap plastic. You can buy it from the supermarket and use it to your hair. I bet you can also get a desirable result.
That’s it! I hope you get to try it and if you do please let us know your experience! And if you have other questions or concerns, just write them down in the comment section below!
