Osaka is one of the greatest cities I highly recommend you visit if you wanna experience the best of Japan. If you’re worried it would cost you too much, I assure you there are ways to travel on a budget even in this expensive city. You can start by booking cheap flights. Now, you have to keep in mind that booking cheap flights doesn’t necessarily equate to having crappy flights, in fact, you can have better, if not the best flight experience if you book with the right airline. Having all that said, I’m glad to share with you that AirAsia, the world’s leading low-cost carrier, has just launched a new flight route between Manila, Philippines and Osaka, Japan which will operate daily starting from the beginning of July 2019.
Osaka will be AirAsia’s first-ever route between the Philippines and Japan. It is the 14th international destination route expected to enhance bilateral connectivity between the two tourism powerhouses.

To promote the launch of the Manila-Osaka route, individuals who book tickets at AirAsia website and the AirAsia mobile app from March 29 to April 7, can avail Php1,990 one-way flight fare. The departure dates must be between July 1 to October 26, 2019.
AirAsia Philippines CEO Capt. Dexter Comendador said that they’re excited to celebrate this milestone and add Japan to their growing network. This will surely pave the way for AirAsia Philippines to connect to more international cities to further promote Philippine tourism.
“Japan is one of the top inbound tourism markets in the Philippines, with 57, 724 arrivals recorded in the first quarter of this year. With this new route enhancing bilateral connectivity, we hope to continue promoting the Philippines as a must-visit destination for Japanese tourists and bring Japan closer to Filipinos.”

To celebrate the new route launch, a whole day of activities and prizes was opened to the public yesterday, June 29, 2019, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Fun Japanese gameshow-inspired activities (such as race while wearing stockings on the face, climb to the top of inflatable slides, sumo roll game, what’s in the box) were battled by keen participants for free Osaka flights.
Lucky winners were given free flights to Osaka: Grand winner – 4 roundtrip tickets; 1st Prize – 2 round trip tickets; 2nd Prize – 1 roundtrip ticket.

The place was busy and fun-filled!
There were booths where guests had their photos taken and printed on paper for free. Of course, I didn’t miss the chance to try it myself, so you can see my happy photo with famous Osaka landmarks in the backdrop!

Attendees of the launch celebration enjoyed discounted flights, tours, visa-assistance by AirAsia partner agencies. [RELATED READ: HOW TO APPLY FOR JAPAN TOURIST VISA FOR PHILIPPINE PASSPORT HOLDERS]
Surprise performances by a Filipina singer and Japanese comedian trio also made the celebration more entertaining. I still need to research the names of the performers but they are indeed talented and fun to watch!
In between the entire program, guests could freely approach the food stalls to savour authentic Japanese food like gyoza (from Tori Ichi Yakitori & Bar), red Iced tea (from Tokyo Tokyo), California maki (from Tenya Tempura Tendon), and my personal favourite, takoyaki!
Among those who joined the launch celebration were AirAsia Philippines CEO Capt. Dexter Comendador, JNTO Executive Director Daisuke Tonai, AirAsia Brand Ambassadors, Japan National Tourism Organization, Osaka Tourism Bureau, and friends from the media.

Booking with AirAsia
My first travel abroad was with AirAsia. I could book around Php2,000 one-way international flight. I’m happy that with this price, I could already enjoy a comfortable and safe flight. Truth be told, I had an experience before paying almost Php9,000 pesos for a domestic roundtrip flight (with a different airline) and had the worst, most stressful time before and after boarding. With AirAsia, I never had this kind of stress. I also like the inflight meals a lot.
If you book your tickets to Osaka with AirAsia, it’s also worth checking their list of popular activities. The cost of the activities are reasonable, plus you get some points which when accumulated, could be redeemed as flights.

Three things stand out at Geláre in Uptown Mall BGC that need mentioning: (one) its gourmet ice cream is airless, with real flavor and no artificial ingredients; (two) it offers ice cream flavors that are Vegan and Halal certified; (three) it serves to-die-for waffles!
Offering melt-in the mouth gourmet ice cream that is 100 percent airless and infused with real flavors and no artificial ingredients, plus freshly baked golden waffles, and light hearty breakfast on the menu, it is no wonder Geláre is much-loved in the Land Down Under.
Geláre has been tantalizing palates for 30 years and counting. Presently, it continues to capture the society’s penchant for gourmet dessert in over 50 branches spread across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and now, in the Philippines.
In the grand launch, the owners and executives of Geláre Philippines conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony. A priest was invited to bless the grand launching of the flagship store and the rest of the event. Bloggers and press people attended to witness the grand launch as well as to learn more about Geláre, its history, offered menu, and business opportunities.
Geláre is the Italian word for “freezing”, the final step in the ice cream making process. It’s founded in of the freezing in ice cream. It is a patented trademark for the cafe and has been in the market for more than 30 years now.
Founded in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1986 by Mr. Farid Torabi, Geláre has expanded its range of dessert offerings to include “frozen yogurts, freshly baked waffles & pancakes, coffee, fruit smoothies, and other blended drinks”.
Geláre has managed to deliver superior ice cream while leaving it with affordable cost. You can get a scoop at P120.
Geláre ice cream is also unique because it is much creamier and thicker than Italian ice cream. It is also much heavier, creamier and more intensely flavored than American ice cream. Geláre is an improved “hybrid” ice cream combining and also exceeding the best qualities from both countries.
Our favorite flavor is the strawberry with real strawberry bits.
Geláre is also know for its world famous waffles. It is said that the best gluten-free Belgian waffles in Australia are baked in Geláre.
Geláre’s light, fluffy and full-of-flavour waffles are freshly baked on the premises every day using the finest natural ingredients to create products crafted to its traditional recipe, ensuring a mouth-watering waffle experience that’s seriously “crunchy on the outside and decadently moist on the inside.”
Served with a range of delicious toppings, you can indulge and delight your senses with a dollop of freshly whipped cream, or two scoops of its premium ice cream smothered with special waffle syrup just for good measure.
Your waffle choices:
Classic Waffle (waffle syrup & fresh cream)
A la Mode treat (classic waffle + 1 scoop of ice cream)
Super Treat (classic waffle + 2 scoops of ice cream)
Maxi Treat (classic waffle + 2 scoops + chocolate sauce)
Banana Split Waffle (maxi treat + fresh banana + strawberry sauce)
Churro Treat (classic waffle + cinnamon sugar + choc sauce)
Mud Pie (classic waffle + Oreo cookies + choc sauce)
Very Berry Treat (classic waffle + blueberries + strawberry sauce)
Ultimate Treat (maxi treat + fresh banana + blueberries + Oreo cookies + choc sauce)
For coffee lovers, there are also an array of offerings. I am glad to say, Geláre serves Affogato!
Fruit Smoothies & Blended Drinks
Hanging around Geláre
There is no wifi inside Geláre but there is an outlet in case your lappy’s or smartphone’s batt runs out.
The interior of Geláre is serene, not too spacious but good enough to enjoy time with friends or family.
