If you’ve been following me for a while, you know Muay Thai has pretty much taken over my life (in the best way). So when my friend Katsuki invited me to train at Cebu Fighting Ground, I said yes right away… and I’m so glad I did.
Cebu Fighting Ground just moved from Lapu-Lapu to Cebu City, and not gonna lie, this new spot has quickly become one of my favorite places to train. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
What is Cebu Fighting Ground?
Cebu Fighting Ground is a combat sports gym that focuses on Muay Thai, kickboxing, K1, and boxing, plus circuit and HIIT training. It’s perfect for all levels, from total beginners who’ve never thrown a punch to MMA enthusiasts who already know what they’re doing.
Beginners get guided every step of the way. If you’re more advanced, you get the freedom to run your own training or mix it up however you want.
Cebu Fighting Ground Rates and Schedule
This is the part that shocked me the most 😱
- Drop-in rate: ₱250 per session
- Open hours: 9AM to 9PM
- Open training: come in anytime within operating hours
- Free classes on weekends
- Gear rental: ₱50 to ₱100 depending on what you need
For ₱250, you literally get access to the gym, the equipment, AND coaches who will train you if you ask. That’s one of the most affordable drop-in rates I’ve seen for a combat sports gym in Cebu.
What You’ll Find Inside
🥊 Trainers are semi-pro to pro level. These coaches know their stuff and they will push you.
🥊 A great community that is super welcoming to newcomers.
🥊 Sparring days, or just ask a trainer anytime if you want to spar.
🥊 Solid equipment, including heavy bags (and the long Fairtex heavy bag, which is amazing for kicks), a fight ring, dumbbells, kettlebells, and everything you need for circuit training.
🥊 Pad drills, mitts, and circuit training with the coaches.
🥊 Gear rental for headgear, shin guards, boxing gloves (limited sizes though), and handwraps, which they also sell. So if you don’t have your own gear yet, no excuses 😉
Bonus: there’s a small store for food and water, and the gym has breezy open-air vibes with mountain views. You’ll sweat more, but you also feel more refreshed after (it’s a trade-off I’m happy to make).

My Muay Thai Training Routine at Cebu Fighting Ground
Most days I self-train, which I really need. It’s my time to drill the strikes I love on the heavy bag over and over until they feel right. Here’s what a typical session looks like for me:
- Warm up and self-train on my own
- Conditioning to get the body ready
- Pad drills with the coaches
- Sparring
- Heavy bag work to finish strong
- Cooldown
The coaches can train you too, just let them know when you get there. And when it’s time to spar, they’re always game… I take it as a compliment that Coach JV doesn’t hold back 😅 Superman punches to the face, kicks to the thighs, the works. Let’s just say I’ve learned to keep my hands UP. I literally learn something new every single session, so huge shout out to my coaches here 🤍
A little tip from me: since the drop-in is only ₱250 and I sometimes do a LOT of work with the coaches (pads, sparring, the whole thing), I always leave them a tip. It’s my way of saying thank you for the time and effort they put into my training. If you’re getting a lot of coaching time, I’d encourage you to do the same.

Why This Gym Works So Well for Me
What I love most is that I can train anytime. I also train at Studio 32 and Muay Thai Cebu, but on days I can’t make it to the other Muay thai gyms in Cebu scheduled classes, Cebu Fighting Ground is the best option for me. Open training from 9AM to 9PM means my schedule never becomes an excuse to skip.
Where is Cebu Fighting Ground? How to Get There
📍 6th floor, The Almonds Hotel, Banilad, Cebu City
It’s at the back of University of Cebu (UC Banilad), along Hon. B. Tudtud private road, in the building across the street from Banilad Town Centre (BTC).
Getting there:
- Angkas or Move It from Cebu Business Park is usually easy
- Walking is doable too if you’re coming from IT Park and don’t mind the heat
Real talk though: it can be kinda challenging to get there during rush hour or on rainy days because Angkas and Move It riders get scarce. Give yourself extra time on those days… but I make it work, and it’s always worth it.
What I Wear to Train: Athena Fightwear 🖤
These days pretty much everything I train in is from Athena Fightwear. My Muay Thai shorts, shirts, and gloves are all from them. The fit, the comfort, the way the fabric feels on my body when I move… it just works.
I also wear their non-tarnish, sweatproof accessories, and my gloves are embossed with fight mantras made to empower women. I really believe in putting intention into the things I use in my life, and Athena does exactly that for women training in this male-dominated sport.
